Tradition will continue to be made this weekend as golf?s finest go head to head for the iconic Claret Jug at the 142nd annual British Open (Open Golf Championship). The oldest of the four major championships in professional golf, the home of this year?s British Open is the Muirifield course in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, a world-famous course that has hosted an outstanding eleven Amateur Championships and 15 Open Championships, staging its first ever in 1892. If this year?s tournament is anything like that of last year, only one thing is definite: nothing is for certain. In a comeback upset that had everyone on the edge of their seat, Ernie Els robbed the title from Adam Scott by one stroke after the Australian finished with four straight bogeys. Earning Els his second Open championship (?00,?12), other previous stand out winners include Tiger Woods (?00, ?05, ?06), Nick Faldo (?87, ?90, ?92), Seve Ballesteros (?79, ?84, ?88), Tom Watson (?75, ?77, ?80, ?82, 73), and Peter Thompson (?54, ?55, ?56, ?58, ?65).
